That's a lot of States that We have little or no influence upon and that, in fact, We are probably anathema to. It's not a matter of being a Trojan Horse, but of being an insurance salesman who needs to make a sale to a very reluctant homeowner. Only We don't know what We're really selling, the homeowner already has everyting they want and We both know it's only about money, anyway.GCSchmidthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07735900094879466498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11569206.post-5105573489656804532009-11-11T22:18:22.609-04:002009-11-11T22:18:22.609-04:00There may be another way Statehood will come about...There may be another way Statehood will come about. Let's examine the rate of population growth of USA based citizens with Puerto Rican heritage.

In the movie "Braveheart", the English King (while deciding how to get rid of the Scottish) said something to the effect of:

"If we cannot get them out, we will breed them out."

Let's think about this. If the USA based population (those having Puerto Rican ancestry) growth out paces the growth of those on the island, eventually there will be a vastly pro-USA feeling amongst the total population of Puerto Ricans.

Yes, for those of you familiar with homeopathy... there will always be small and lingering traces.

Call or visit your relatives in the USA, and they'll be asking "How do you guys survive over there? Why don't you move here or become a state?". And over time, the voices in opposition will be drowned out...

Either that or total economic desperation convinces a nation that pride (sometimes) just gets in the way of your own personal progress. Give up, give in.

Remember - States still get to keep their own flags. You can even keep the anthem.

If you can't do better than them, join them. Then game them. Treat Statehood as a trojan horse. After you are fully inside the fences - start taking advantage of every opportunity available. Keep your identity (the good parts) and capitalize on what you unlock.

Every street person knows you are guaranteed your 3 square meals a day and a place to sleep in jail. Is it really a cell, or a Holiday Inn, a step up, or step down?

That's my daily serving of slightly randomized commentary. ;)The Insiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01141271519765142626noreply@blogger.com
